"Steve Jobs," the much-anticipated new movie with "X-Men: Days of Future Past" star Michael Fassbender in the title role as the late Apple co-founder, had its world premiere at Colorado's Telluride Film Festival on Saturday night.

Critics generally loved it, with Variety going so far as to say that it made Fassbender's nuanced portrayal of Jobs made him a serious Oscars contender for the Best Actor award. Lots of praise has been heaped on director Danny Boyle, and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (of "The West Wing" and "The Social Network" fame), as well.

It has one other big fan, too: Steve Wozniak, who cofounded Apple with Jobs way back in 1976, told Deadline that it was a far more accurate portrayal of his friend's life than the previous film "Jobs," which starred Ashton Kutcher.

"I saw a rough cut and I felt like I was actually watching Steve Jobs and the others, not actors playing them," Wozniak told Deadline.

He was also apparently a fan of Seth Rogen's portrayal of Wozniak himself, Deadline's report indicates. It's especially noteworthy given that Wozniak had previously said that he found the first trailer for "Steve Jobs" to be "exaggerated."

Also of note is that "Jobs," the previous Steve Jobs biographical movie, portrayed him as having contributed to the development of Apple's flagship Apple II computer - something Wozniak recently rebutted, saying that it was him and only him who had come up with the design.

If Wozniak liked the new "Steve Jobs," maybe this indicates it's truer to Apple's real-world history.

The version of the film shown at Telluride was apparently a "Work in Progress" cut of the movie. The final cut of "Steve Jobs" will at early October's New York Film Festival, ahead of its official theatrical release on October 9th.

In the meanwhile, this past week saw the release of "Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine," a challenging documentary about his life and work directed by Alex Gibney of "Going Clear" fame.
