New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown is no longer a Nike-sponsored athlete, the company said on Thursday.
Nike did not say when Brown was dropped as an athlete or why he was no longer sponsored by the company, but the NFL player has been accused of sexual assault by two women - including his former trainer - in the last two weeks. He was also the subject of a Sports Illustrated article that took a deep look into his past.
When Insider contacted Nike about Brown's sponsorship, the company said: "Antonio Brown is not a Nike athlete."
Brown was a Nike athlete for years. The company published an article about his "Secret Fitness Power," and released signature shoes featuring his name earlier this year.
When asked about when Brown's sponsorship ended, Nike told Insider: "We don't get into specifics of sports marketing relationships."
