The pilot in the F-16 ejected from the jet according to the Berkeley County Fire Department.
The Department of Natural Resources is currently underway to locate the pilot, WCSC reports. The Cessna's fuselage was found in a nearby body of water.A witness described the collision as a "ball of fire in the air," News 2 reports.
A defense department official, speaking to ABC, confirmed that the F-16 came from Shaw Air Force Base. According to the official, the pilot of the F-16 managed to eject safely. However, the condition of both the F-16 and Cessna pilots is currently unknown.
