  • A Philadelphia Eagles fan was arrested after allegedly punching a police horse.
  • The man was charged with aggravated assault, taunting police animals, simple assault, and trespassing, and has since been released on bail.
  • After the incident, a local news crew asked Eagles fans how they felt about the incident, where Philadelphians stood strongly against the fans' actions.

Philadelphia fans are known for their rowdiness, but during Saturday's Divisional Round playoff game against the Atlanta Falcons one fan may have taken things to a new level when he was arrested after allegedly punching a police horse.

22-year-old Taylor Fredericks had already been kicked out of Lincoln Financial Field for being intoxicated and it was determined he did not have a ticket to the game. Outside the stadium, things got messy. Per Philadelphia magazine:

According to a police spokesperson, Hendricks allegedly walked up to a mounted officer and began punching the horse in the face, neck and shoulders. He also hit the cop in the legs, say police. Fortunately, the cop and the horse were not injured.

Fredericks is charged with aggravated assault, taunting police animals, simple assault, and trespassing. He has since been released on bail.

Fox29 interviewed fans about the incident. Eagles supporters disavowed Fredericks' actions, speaking out strongly against horse-punching. "Come out here and punch a horse? Especially when there's a cop on it? That's just... crazy," said one Eagles fan. "Not too smart - does not reflect Eagles fans, or what we're about," said another.

"You have 65,000 people. 64,999 are fine, and one punches a horse. Y'know, these things happen anywhere," said another.
