American Airlines confirmed to Business Insider that a pilot was arrested at Manchester Airport on Thursday morning after being suspected of excessive alcohol consumption. The pilot was scheduled to work on a flight to Philadelphia, which was canceled. Passengers were booked on different flights, American Airlines said, and the airline is cooperating with local authorities.
"Safety is our highest priority and we apologize to our customers for the disruption to their travel plans," the airline said in a statement.
