Amazon India is going aggressive in the country and in a latest move, it has ventured into furniture sales.
The e-commerce company will be setting up five more warehouses in India before the end of the current year.
“Amazon has just launched its range of furniture products and would set up three out of the five FCs (fulfilment centres) in Tamil Nadu,” said Sumit Sahay, director, category management, Amazon India.
The furniture sales option is only open in 20 cities and customers would be able to place orders only if they reside within a certain distance from the seller.
Presently, Amazon has 22 FCs in India. Amazon posted a 250% increase in sales during 2015. "We see the momentum continuing for the rest of the year," Sahay said.
