Everything we know (so far) about the 'Gilmore Girls' revival

Your favorite mother-daughter duo is back in action.

Rory is in her 30s, unemployed, and living a "vagabond" lifestyle. She returns to Stars Hollow for her grandfather's funeral, but is also trying to figure her life out.

Her three main guys (Dean, Jess, and Logan) will also be making appearances throughout the episodes, though it's unclear how important they'll be to the series.

In this shot, you can see Dean leaving Doose's Market with corn starch on sale in the background — a callback to Rory and Dean's first-ever kiss in the series.

Sadly, for Dean and Rory fans, Alex Bledel (Rory) said she only had one scene with actor Jared Padalecki (Dean).

Rory will start off the season single, but we don't know who she'll end up with yet — if anyone.

Showrunner and creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told Time that she wishes fans were less concerned about who Rory will be dating:

It’s just such a small part of who Rory is. I don’t see people debating "What newspaper is Rory working for?" "Did she win a Pulitzer yet?" It's all about Dean and Jess. Dean was 16 years old when they dated. Everybody should go back and think about their boyfriend at 16 and then reevaluate whether that should be the focus of the conversation.

But it is clear from the trailer that Jess and Rory will be hanging out together.

Though whether or not they'll end up together is another story.

"You know, I don’t know,” Milo Ventimiglia (Jess) previously told HollywoodLife.com. "I think there is the hope and the want I think with about 70% of the viewers out there. I think it’s because it was always a big unanswered question with Jess and Rory. That’s something we will get into a little bit or maybe not — I don’t know."

Upon further inspection, that meeting is taking place at the "Stars Hollow Gazette."

Since Rory starts off the season without a job, it's possible that Jess is working there. But it's also possible that he's just visiting her as she's writing for the local paper.

Logan will also be back for the revival.

Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry) is said to appear in every episode of the "Gilmore Girls" revival. His father Mitchum (Gregg Henry) will also be back.

Some behind-the-scenes photos reveal a wedding is also taking place.

Could it finally be Luke and Lorelei?! Judging from the trailer, they are together, and it's glorious.

Luke is in Lorelai's kitchen — we assume they are living together — and has given it a much-needed makeover.

But nothing in Stars Hollow is ever as it seems, and it looks like there will be some trouble brewing in paradise.

"I thought I knew exactly what I wanted and where I was going," Lorelai can be heard saying in the trailer. "But lately, I don't know, things seem hazier."

Richard's death will affect the Gilmore family in a prominent way, particularly Emily.

We'll see Richard's funeral either in the show or as a flashback, and will explore how Emily handles the loss of her partner.

"I was married for 50 years," she says in the trailer. "Half of me is gone."

She spends some time changing the couple's home and struggling to come to terms with the loss of her beloved husband.

Edward Herrmann, the actor who portrayed Richard, died in 2014.

"[Richard] is certainly a presence, especially in that first script," Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore) told TV Line. "And Ed’s probably going to be hovering around the set a bit and watching over us. I really do believe that. Because he really loved the show."

"Gilmore Girls" fans will finally learn the four words creator Amy Sherman-Palladino had planned to end the original series on.

Sherman-Palladino left before the series' final, seventh season. She had always planned to end the series with four words, and we'll finally get to see what those are.

There's a lot of fan speculation about what those four words might be. Here's what we know: The line will be split between Lorelai and Rory, and it may not be completely satisfying.

Lauren Graham (Lorelai) revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the final four words are "not as resolved as [she] thought they would be." Bledel (Rory) said the final line "kind of, hmm, it does kind of throw you."

Lots of fan favorite characters will also be back. Friday night dinners are still a thing, and Kirk is present for at least one of them for some unknown reason.

Oh, Kirk. We've missed you.

Paris is at Chilton. It's unclear if she works there or has children there.

Rory may also be teaching at Chilton.

We also get a Glimpse of Paris's home or office, and it appears that Paris and Doyle are still together.

Everyone's favorite ladies, Babette and Miss Patty, are planning a musical about the history of "Stars Hollow."

That play could be starring "Bunheads" alum Sutton Foster as an unknown character.

Foster starred in Sherman-Palladino's show "Bunheads" and will be in "Summer" and "Fall" episodes.

Foster said she's a huge fan of "Gilmore Girls," and even cried after her first scene with Graham (Lorelai): "It was just surreal," Foster said.

Lane still lives in Stars Hollow. Here she is volunteering with Rory with her mother watchfully standing by.

It sounds like we'll also see Lane as a mom — according to casting news, two 9-year-old Korean-American twins named Stevie and Kwan will star as Lane's twins.

Keiko Agena (Lane) called her role in the revival, "fulfilling."

Sookie still works at the Dragonfly Inn as a chef. We can't wait to see Melissa McCarthy back in Stars Hollow.

We'll have to wait and see how many episodes she'll be in — McCarthy and Sherman-Palladino both talked about how hard it was fitting the shoot into McCarthy's schedule.

"I know what the scene is," Sherman-Palladino told Entertainment Weekly before McCarthy was confirmed to come back. "She can drive up, run in, shoot it, and run out. I can get her in and out in two hours."

So there's a chance everyone's favorite chef could only be in one scene, let alone one episode.

In addition to all of our old favorites, there will be a host of new characters, too.

According to E!, here's what we can expect:

There's Berta and Alejandro, a Peruvian couple. Alejandro is both a handyman and a solid family man. Plus, we'll meet Nat Compton, an incredibly miserable looking man who never smiles. Oh, and 13-year-old Dewey, Clementina, a Portuguese nanny, 7-year-old Tim and his 5-year-old sister Gabriela, 9-year-old Korean-American twins Stevie and Kwan and a whole bunch of hippies at a commune. Intrigued? There's more!

Finally, there's the pleasant 30-something Paul, a Michael Cera type described as "a good boyfriend," the older high-end men's magazine editor Jim, the blue-collar Dwayne, and the good-looking, eager 20-something Damon.
