Bollywood star Akshay Kumar made just $1 million less than ‘Iron Man’ Robert Downey Junior

  • Akshay Kumar is the only Indian actor featured on Forbes’ ‘Highest Paid Entertainers list’ at the 33rd spot. The first spot is taken by American pop star Taylor Swift.
  • According to Forbes, Kumar “pulls in at least $5 million and up to $10 million per film”.
  • He is also the face of at least 20 brands including Tata and Harpic.
Akshay Kumar is the only Bollywood actor to featured in Forbes’ list of ‘The World’s Highest Paid Celebrities’. He managed to gross $65 million to take the 33rd spot.

Forbes says that Akshay Kumar — one of the top earning stars in Bollywood — makes at least $5 million from a film, which can go as high as $10 million. The 51-year-old actor has beaten many Hollywood biggies like Rihanna, Kevin Hart, Jackie Chan, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johansson among others.

Interestingly, Iron Man Robert Downey Jr is ahead of him by just $1 million, as he earned $66 million. The highest paid actor is Taylor Swift who made as much as $185 million, followed by Kylie Jenner who grossed $170 million. Kanye West, Lionel Messi and Ed Sheeren have taken up the third, fourth and fifth spots.

Equality Problem

Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner dominate the list. Yet, only 16 women who are featured in the list of top 100 celebrities. In fact, no female actor from India is featured in the list, pointing towards a serious pay scale difference in the film industry.
