Airbus is discussing the possibility of a stretched version of its A380 plane with airlines.

John Leahy, Sales Chief for Airbus said at the Paris Air show that the company may put new engines on its plane or dish out a stretched version with around 50 more seats.

"I'd say that we're talking to at least half a dozen (customers)," he said when asked if Airbus was in talks with any customers other than Emirates, which has been pushing for a new version of the plane”, Leahy told reporters.

Leahy added that he expected orders for the extended version within this year.
