Air India caught selling cheap tickets

Air India has been selling a lot of tickets at very cheap prices.

An internal vigilance enquiry has found that over 85% seats on an Agartala-Delhi flight were sold at less than half the normal fare.

The department probed fares on the above route for the last half year and submitted an investigation report this year. It found that around 120 of the total 140 seats were sold at the cheapest possible rate.

It then recommended India’s national carrier to sell more seats at higher prices. The revenue generated from the route has seen better days after the change.

Flight ticket rates are often decided based on the prices rival airlines are offering.
