MX TakaTak, Moj and Josh are the three most downloaded apps in India in the last quarter: Sensor Tower

Made-in-India short video apps ruled over App Store and Google Play in the last quarter as the top 3 most downloaded apps across the App Store and Google Play in India were MX TakaTak, Moj and Josh, according to data from Sensor Tower.

While MX TakaTak saw 84.5 million downloads between January and March, Moj and Josh saw 71.1 million and 62.5 million downloads respectively.

Despite the excitement around Signal after privacy concerns around WhatsApp, the messaging app did not make it to the top 10 list.

The other apps on the top 10 list are Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, SnackyTakatak, WhatsApp, Telegram and Join Clash 3D, which was the only game to make it to the list.

Indian short video apps have been the biggest beneficiaries of TikTok’s ban in India and have been witnessing consistent growth over the past few months. It will be interesting to see how these platforms go about acquiring new users and content creators to grow their platforms further.
