  • President Donald Trump will have a roundabout next to the new US embassy in Jerusalem named after him.
  • The new embassy will open on May 14, with Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and Steve Mnuchin in attendance.
  • Cities across the country have been eager to honor Trump following his December decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, with proposals to name parks and railway stations in his honor.

A roundabout next to the new US embassy in Jerusalem will be named in honor of President Donald Trump.

Jerusalem's Mayor Nir Barkat announced the name change to a paved traffic circle near the new US embassy on Twitter.

The roundabout will reportedly have a naming ceremony with "American dignities." The new US embassy is set to open on May 14 after its move from Tel Aviv.

The US delegation attending the opening includes Ivanka Trump, presidential adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Secretary of Treasury Steve Mnuchin. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence will not attend the event, despite teasing the possibility during a press conference with Angela Merkel last month.

Trump's popularity has risen in Israel following his December decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

A Trump railway station near the Western Wall, which may connect the major cities of Jerusalem to Tel Aviv together, is in the works.

According to CNN, cities across Israel are eager to honor the 45th president.

A Jerusalem council member proposed changing the name of a major street that leads into the Old City's Muslim Quarter to Donald Trump Street. A town in northern Israel plans to name a park, and the coastal city of Ashkelon has proposed naming a road "Trump Declaration Street."
