A sniper has shot dead a local mayor and two journalists in a random attack outside a restaurant in the Finnish town of Imatra, according to the AFP news agency.

Local police have confirmed that a 23-year-old man has been detained after three women were fatally shot on Sunday morning. The man who is yet to be identified didn't resist arrest.
