Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much anticipated US visit gets underway today. He has already left for the US and would be reaching New York in the evening. While political pundits and analysts are predicting the outcomes of this high-profile meeting between the leaders of two powerful economies of the world, let’s take a look at how grand would be Modi’s reception.

US President Obama will have meetings with Modi for two successive days (September 29 and 30). As a special gesture, Obama will also host a rare, private dinner for Modi at the White House on September 29.

Other than Obama, Modi will have a rendezvous with the former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

Also on Modi’ agenda are meeting with high-profile businessmen in US. Reports suggest that he will meet a select group of 10 CEOs and have one-on-one discussions with five important corporate leaders in New York over the weekend, Modi. It is for the first time that an Indian Prime Minister will have so many engagements during his official US visit.

US Spellbound By Modi’s Charisma
Some might find it tough to believe, but Modi’s magic is working in the US even before him reaching there. The US Senate has declared September 30 as 'US-India Partnership Day.' The resolution states that the Senate "designates September 30, 2014 as the 'United States and India Partnership Day' recognizing the contribution of the US and India to one another and their relationship that will continue to help define the 21st century."

In addition, the Indian American Community Foundation, which promotes cooperation between India and the US, is hosting a community reception event at the Madison Square Garden in New York, and has distributed 18000 free tickets for the same. ACF spokesperson Anand Shah said, “it promises to be one of the largest ever gatherings to hear a foreign leader speak on American soil.''

When Modi visited Japan, it pledged to invest $35 billion in India over the next five years. Several MOUs were signed during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to India. Now it remains to be seen how successful this visit turns out to be.
