A car parking space in central London is on the market for £350,000.

The 19.5ft by 8ft space, which is situated just behind Hyde Park Gardens near Marble Arch, is comfortably the most expensive single space on sale in the country.

At £350,000, the spot is significantly more expensive then the average cost of buying a house in the UK, which in January was £191,812 according to the Land Registry.

The cost of living in the capital is notoriously high and the Hyde Park space isn't the city's first to be on the market for a massive asking price.

Last year, The Telegraph reported on a spot in South Kensington which was available for £480,000. However it was located in a secure underground complex and was large enough to fit up to three cars.

The Hyde Park space is advertised by Knight Frank, which describes it on its website as: "A rare opportunity to purchase a private parking space for one car, located behind the prestigious Hyde Park Gardens and ideally located for the transport links of the M1."

The space is on private lease with approximately 88 years remaining.

Harrison Woods, who is the managing director of the website yourparkingspace.co.uk which helps people locate parking spaces, told Carsite:

The cost of this parking space is eye-watering. You would have to rent out the most expensive parking space in Westminster listed on yourparkingspace.co.uk for more than 50 years and it would still be cheaper than purchasing this space.

According to yourparkingspace.co.uk, the second most expensive parking space in the country is an Edinburgh spot on the market for £85,000, while there are 45 executive spaces available at Manchester Airport for £35,000 each.
