A Nebraska woman got the best surprise ever after finishing her last chemo treatment
Breast cancer patient Alissa Bousquet got a stunning surprise to celebrate her final chemotherapy treatment, the Associated Press reports.
Alissa is being treated for breast cancer at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and though she still has surgeries ahead, she finally completed her chemotherapy late last week. Her husband, Brad, wanted to commemorate the occasion.
"She has amazed me with her strength, courage, and positive attitude through it all," he wrote on Facebook. "I wanted to do something special...to show her the tremendous love and support she has from her friends and family,"
So he secretly contacted Alissa's friends and family, asking them to purchase roses for $10 each. The orders were filled by a local florist, and all proceeds were donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation. In total, 170 families purchased 500 roses, raising more than $4,500. Alissa's daughters and close friends presented the roses on her final day of treatment - and caught the emotional moment on video.
"After presenting the rose baskets to my wife we shared them with the other cancer patients receiving treatment today," Brad wrote. "The joy of sharing these roses with the other cancer patients was one of my favorite parts."
