- A new entry in the long-running "Fallout" series was announced on Wednesday morning, and it's called "Fallout 76."
- The game involves the inhabitants of Vault 76, one of the nuclear fallout shelters that's appeared in previous "Fallout" games.
- "Fallout 76" is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It's being made by Bethesda Game Studios, the team that created "Fallout 4" and "Skyrim."
"Fallout 76" is the next entry in the long-running, beloved "Fallout" video game series.
It's coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and it's being developed by the same renowned studio that created "Fallout 3," "Fallout 4," and "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim."
Aside from that information, and a brief teaser trailer, little is known about "Fallout 76." Kotaku reports that it's "an online game of some sort," but there's no official information just yet.
A lot can be inferred from the trailer, the handful of screenshots we've got so far, and previous mentions of Vault 76 in the "Fallout" series.

Like previous games in the post-apocalyptic series, "Fallout 76" revolves around the inhabitants of one particular nuclear fallout shelter: Vault 76.
The vault has a notorious history in "Fallout" series lore, having been mentioned in both "Fallout 3" and "Fallout 4." Specifically, Vault 76 is referred to as a "control" vault - one of the small group of nuclear fallout shelters that weren't subject to social experimentation. It's said to contain 500 inhabitants, and was opened on July 4, 2076, on the Tricentennial of the US Declaration of Independence.
The song in the teaser - "Country Roads" - points to the vault's location, in West Virginia:
"Almost heaven, West Virginia; Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River"
A brief clip is shown on a television, seemingly from the inauguration of the vault. "When the fighting has stopped, and the fallout has settled," a speaker says, "You must rebuild."
Notably, there's no fighting or weaponry in the teaser. Not a supermutant or mininuke to be found! Instead, it focuses on domestic life inside the vault.

More information is expected on "Fallout 76" in a few weeks at the annual video game trade show, E3 2018.
