A Group Of Canadian College Students Won A Campus Costume Contest In Blackface

A Canadian university is under fire after a group of students in blackface won an on-campus costume contest, according to local Canadian news outlets.

The Brock University students were reportedly dressed as the Jamaican bobsled team (popularized by the 1993 film "Cool Runnings") and appear to have painted their bodies black as part of their costume. They reportedly won a costume contest at the Brock student union, where the winner was determined by applause from the audience.

A group of Brock professors wrote an open letter on Facebook criticizing the students' use of blackface and the university's perceived lack of response to the incident:
