Van Terry, in blue.

A father tried to attack his daughter's convicted killer in a Cleveland courtroom on Thursday, The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Van Terry, whose 18-year-old daughter Shirrelda is one of Michael Madison's three victims, was addressing the killer from a podium in the courtroom.

"I guess we are supposed to find it in our hearts to forgive this clown .... who's touched our families... who's taken my child," Terry said, according to WKYC-TV

When Terry turned to Madison, Madison simply smirked.

This tipped Terry into a rage. He lunged across a table and grabbed Madison's face before police officers wrestled him away.

Terry's sister, Sonya Richardson, said that her brother was rightfully distraught over Madison's conduct in the courtroom.

"The family is there pouring out their hearts ... and he's sitting there smiling ... which caused my brother to launch at him," Richardson told reporters, according to USA Today

Madison, a serial killer and sex offender convicted of killing three women and stuffing their bodies into trash bags, was given a death sentence by Judge Nancy McDonnell.

Here's a video of the incident:
