Customization is the key – the car makers in India have started understanding it. The new age car buyers ready to shell out that extra buck to make the car look unique, the car makers are focussing more on accessorizing. So if you want a red LED door seal or a aqua coloured seat cover, you needn’t browse through Amazon. You can simply walk into an authorized car store and produce your demand.

Maruti Suzuki along with some other car makers is taking the lead. Maruti will now be offering car buyers an option to personalize their car, right from upholstery to in-car entertainment system. Starting with Brezza from this week, the facility will be expanded to other models as well.

RS Kalsi, executive director (sales & marketing), Maruti Suzuki India told the Economic Times, "While we have been selling accessories, we wanted to co-create value for our customers by enabling them to design and configure their vehicles down to minute details. We have created an exclusive sof 90 accessories only for the Brezza. The idea is to make each vehicle rolling out of our assembly lines unique by democratising personalisation services."

Maruti Suzuki is offering styling options such as exterior garnishes, body graphics, alloy wheels, seat covers, interior styling kits, infotainment options and mats to name a few to the Brezza customers.

This is definitely a major boost to the revenue from the Indian market.

"Globally, not many companies have introduced personalisation services in the mass segment. SUV owners are more open to personalisation so it is the right segment to launch this service in. It will help Maruti Suzuki increase customer engagement and also help sales of accessories,” VG Ramakrishnan, managing partner at Avanteum Advisors LLP told the ET.
