Rose asked Stoppelman about criticism that Yelp scores are unreliable because anyone can submit a review.
"There's a lot of ways to try and dismiss the user base, or the power of Yelp or meaning of Yelp, but if you look at the demographics, they are off the charts. They are very attractive," Stoppelman said.
He explained that most Yelp users are 20 to 50 years old, well-educated and have a high income.
"It's not just young folks mouthing off about McDonald's or something like that," he said.
The CEO also defended the validity of the site's rating system.
"I find it accurate. If you go and find, say, a four-and-a-half star business in New York [City] that has 70-plus reviews, you're pretty much guaranteed a good experience," Stoppelman said.
The site filters out about 20% of reviews that are deemed unreliable.
