It looks weird now, but Rooney actually got his start playing for Everton when he was just 17.
When Rooney was first transferred from Everton to Manchester United, he was making £45,000 per week or about $3.9 million per year.
Rooney recently caused quite a stir when he was given a new 5.5-year contract that will pay him £300,000 per week or about $26 million per year.
Despite being 28 years old, Rooney's new salary will actually be an increase from previous contract that paid him £250,000 per week, or about $21.7 million per year.
