When you open the main Snapchat app, swipe down on the main screen, or tap the ghost icon at the top. Then tap on the little gear icon in the upper right hand corner.
Here's your settings page. Tap on "Manage" under "Additional Services."
Here's where your friend emoji are. Tap on that.
Here's the whole list. Each emoji means something different based on your relationship with your Snapchat friends. But this is more than just a glossary to decipher the emoji that appear next to your Snapchat friends' names — you can tap on any of them to change them.
Voila! You've customized your friend emoji.
