Travis Kelce recently opened up about his relationship with Taylor Swift, describing her as "a genius."
In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, published on Monday, the NFL player said he was a Swiftie before he began dating the pop star.
When he attended The Eras Tour earlier this year, Kelce said he was most excited for her to perform the "1989" segment.
"'Blank Space' was one I wanted to hear live for sure," he said, quoting a lyric from the song: 'I could make a bad guy good for the weekend.' That's a helluva line!"
In fact, Kelce said he's recently begun delving into Swift's lyrics, especially her breakup songs.
"I've never been a man of words," he said. "Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is, has been fucking mind-blowing. I'm learning every day."
Previously, Kelce revealed, he'd been more of a fan of her melodies: "She writes catchy jingles."
Asked if he has something to teach Swift in exchange, he said he couldn't think of anything off the top of his head.
Rumors about the high-profile couple began swirling in September. The athlete fueled the speculation when he announced on his podcast that he'd invited Swift to watch him play at Arrowhead Stadium.
Shortly after, Swift began publicly cheering for Kelce's team, the Kansas City Chiefs. She also stepped out with Kelce several times in New York City, apparently confirming their relationship.
Kelce told The Wall Street Journal that he wasn't nervous when he took Swift out for their first official date.
"When I met her in New York, we had already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there," he said.
However, he added that his friends and family were nervous on his behalf.
"Everybody around me telling me: 'Don't fuck this up!' And me sitting here saying: 'Yeah — got it.'"
