They
made a height-adjustable potty for the elders and won the first prize at Surge,
the world’s largest tech conference!
The Indian edition of the planet’s largest tech conference ended with Sachin Bansal, executive chairman of Flipkart, wanting it to be larger next year and Paddy Cosgrave, co-founder of SURGE wanting collaboration with Intel and Vodafone next year for better network connectivity. It ended on a happy note, though. But the show stealers were the ones who won the first competition of the world’s largest start-ups get together in India, the Arcatron Mobility.

What made them stand out? Well, the fact that they have targeted a niche sector of the society who is often neglected by most, the elders, most probably led to their win, said the co-founder of Arcatron Mobility, Ganesh Sonawane. They have already sold 40 units in their pre-launch stage and plan to launch it this April.

The Product

It is a height-adjustable Shower and Commode wheelchair-self propelled for elders and the model is called SSS100.

“We have been received well by the Sahyadri group of hospitals and are targeting many more in the near future,” said Ganesh.

He added that they are currently selling it at a cost of RS. 16,000 which is also the cost of manufacturing. They do not plan to make profit before setting up a good customer base.
