The first episode of the new "Star Trek" installment will debut on CBS in January 2017, but if you want to watch any future episodes of the series you'll have to subscribe to CBS All Access, the network's paid-subscription service.
The streaming service, which gives users access to CBS' current and previous shows on demand, is available for $5.99 per month. Subscribers are also able to livestream CBS.
According to CBS, the new series will "introduce new characters will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966."
Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote and produced the rebooted film franchise "Star Trek" and "Star Trek Into Darkness," will serve as executive producer.
