A new stand-up electric scooter called the CycleBoard might be the next big mode of transportation.
The CycleBoard is like a hybrid between a Razor Electric Scooter and a longboard. It uses a lean-to-steer system, so turning is as intuitive as shifting your body weight to one side.
A motor is tucked into the rear wheel hub, powering the scooter to drive 15 to 20 miles on a single charge. The rider gets going by triggering the throttle, and breaks using a hand lever. Your feet never need to touch the ground.
While this system might sound disastrous for clumsy people like me, CycleBoard's tricycle-like design - two wheels in the front, one in the back - help stabilize the scooter through sharp turns, into puddles, and over cracks.
Navigation-challenged? There's even an accessory that allows you to clip your phone to the handlebars.

The CycleBoard seems like a good fit for short-distance commuters and city-slickers. Weighing 42 pounds, it's not the most portable beast. Still, it's a viable option for those looking to go green.

The device is crushing its Kickstarter goal, having raised over $100,000. The scooter retails for $1,299 and begins shipping in July.
