Grads are also well-paid; the median salary for graduates of the class of 2013 earn a median salary of $160,000. Considering its location in New York City, the school seems to send most of its grads to the New York job market: about 67% of Columbia Law grads were employed in New York state 9 months after graduation.
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and former Chief Justice John Jay attended the best law school in the state of New York.

Seven US Presidents graduated from Harvard Law, including President Barack Obama and former US Presidents John F. Kennedy and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
HLS is known for sending its graduates on to Biglaw firms: over 80% of HLS grads work in firms that have at least 500 people, according to the American Bar Association. The majority of the remaining grads work in federal government, securing highly coveted positions like judicial clerkships.

Yale Law leaves behind its second-place spot to top our list of the best law schools in America. Yale Law is the alma mater of former President Bill Clinton, former US President Gerald Ford, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Ten US Supreme Court Justices graduated from YLS, including Sonia Sotomayor, Samuel Alito, and Clarence Thomas.
Even though the school's employment data seems relatively low compared to other top schools, YLS claims that this data is not accurate since "many of our graduates turn down traditional legal employment for different types of opportunities," like graduate school and professional positions.
Yale Law is known for having a unique and insular culture: Students have no letter grades, no class rankings, and the school claims to be a place where "a spirit of collaboration reigns." When we tried to write a feature on impressive students at Yale Law, the students banded together to boycott our list, saying that the project goes "against the community spirit of Yale Law School."
