"The Last Guardian"
Fans have been waiting nearly a decade to get their hands on this PlayStation 4 exclusive.
Ben Gilbert on our sister site Business Insider said the game is like nothing he's played before. "It's thoughtful and unique," Gilbert writes, but it can also be a little frustrating if you can't solve one of the games puzzles.
That's deliberate. "The Last Guardian" is supposed to be about discovery and experimentation as the bond between the player and a giant cat-bird-dragon creature grows. The artwork in the game looks stunning.
DC Superhero Girls
TTPM named Mattel's DC Super Hero Girls the doll of the year. Not only do girls get beloved DC Comics characters like Wonder Woman and Batgirl, but the line also offers friendlier versions of the brands' villains Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy that don't focus on promoting the characters' sexuality.
The superhero girls are recommended for ages six and up.
Barbie Fashionistas
Earlier this year, Mattel announced it would diversify its Barbie selection to be more inclusive. Barbie Fashionistas come in curvy, tall, and petite sizes to better reflect various body types.
The collection of 33 dolls is recommended for ages three and up.
Shopkins
When I was at a holiday show this year, a young girl with her mom couldn't wait to get over to these miniatures to vlog about them.
The collectible toys consist of food items with adorable little faces on them. An accompanying app let's you scan your food items in so kids can bring their toys to life.
They're recommended for ages five and up.

"Batman v Superman" Ultimate Batcave Playset
"Batman v Superman" may not have been a big hit with fans, but the two superheroes are still among the most popular action figures out there.
While Barbie's dreamhouse has two floors, Batman's batcave has four and a zipline. The Walmart exclusive also comes with a Bruce Wayne figure dressed as the Dark Knight with a snap-on armor suit.
It's recommended for ages five and up.

Krennic's Imperial Shuttle Lego set
Lego has a bunch of new sets for "Rogue One." If you're a fan of the dark side, Director Krennic's Imperial Shuttle comes with six mini-figures and room for them to sit aboard.
The ship, which resembles Kylo Ren's from "The Force Awakens," is recommended for ages 9-14.
Sky Viper Hover Racers
There are a lot of drones out there right now. SkyRocket's is the top one TTPM recommends for kids and it's more affordable than some of the ones we've seen.
The Sky Viper is meant for racing alongside friends. The lightweight device has three competitive modes. The drone connects with a free app which allows users to create custom courses for races.
It's controlled with a remote, requires 11 AAA batteries, and is recommended for ages 12 and up.
InteracTech Stormtrooper figure
While an interactive droid that moves around is cool, the InteracTech Stormtrooper responds to how kids play with it. Not only does it have motion sensors, but it has over 70 sound effects. Toss the 12 inch figure up in the air and the Stormtrooper will yell out in surprise. Turn him upside down and he'll say a few choice phrases.
It requires 2 AA batteries and is recommended for ages four and up.
Swing 'N Sounds Maui
With the release of Disney's latest hit, everyone's going to want toys of the characters from the movie. The Rock's demigod Maui has over 10 sounds and phrases and is covered in detailed tattoos from the film. It also comes with his magical hook.
It requires 2 AA batteries, which are included. He's recommended for ages 3 and up.
Moana Starlight Canoe & Friends Set
If there's one "Moana" toy girls will want, it's the one that comes with the Disney princess' canoe and her animal sidekicks Hei Hei and Pua. When you push the canoe it rocks as if it were moving across the ocean. (A note on the box cautions that the canoe is not intended for play in actual water.)
Moana's boat also projects constellations on the wall as she seeks out the demigod Maui.
The canoe requires 3 AA batteries that are not included. It's recommended for ages 3 and up. Some adult assembly is required.
Hasbro's Black Series action figures
Hasbro's Black Series figures may be collectors' items for older "Star Wars" fans because of their super attention to detail, but they're also extremely poseable, which makes them perfect for kids who are re-enacting scenes from the films.
Retailers have exclusive Black Series figures. If you're trying to hunt down every character, Walmart will have a Scarif Stormtrooper available while Kmart has a Jyn Erso exclusive similar to last year's Rey and Kylo Ren sets.
Zoomer Chimp
Spin Master is king of the interactive holiday toys this year. The chimp flips and moves around while responding to voice commands. The latest version of Zoomer has a feature called Progressive Play which allows kids to unlock even more commands.
The toy comes with a rechargeable battery and cable for charging. It's recommended for ages 5 and up.
Barbie Dreamhouse
There are a lot of dollhouses you can get, but Mattel's latest two-floor Barbie Dreamhouse is high-tech. You can connect it to Wi-Fi for the house to respond to over 100 commands. Kids can tell the house to open the door, turn on lights, and use a motorized elevator (Barbie's fancy). She even has a flushable toilet.
If you don't connect to the internet, the home still has 13 switches that enable lights and sounds. An app can be downloaded to customize the house more.
It's recommended for ages 6 and up. Some assembly is required and it doesn't come with any dolls.
Hot Diggity Dancing Mickey Mouse
Just Play's 16-inch Mickey dolls not only dance, but also sing. Those familiar with Disney Junior’s "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" will recognize the hit "Hot Dog" song. Mickey has five different jives and shakes to keep kids entertained along.
2 AA batteries are included. It’s recommended for ages 3 and up.
Fur Real Friends Torch My Blazin' Dragon
After last year's StarLily unicorn hit, FurReal Friends is back this year with a baby dragon that responds to over 50 commands. Fill up his water tank and he fires out flame-colored mist that will heat up his marshmallow.
He requires 4C batteries that are not included. Torch is required for ages 3 and up.
A smart R2-D2
This is the droid you're looking for. This "smart" R2-D2 responds to your voice and his actions can be controlled through an app available through iOS and Android.
It's recommended for ages 6 and up.
"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon"
The two new games allow players to capture new Pokémon across four different islands. Sun and Moon offer a bunch of exclusive Pokémon that can only be accessed in each individual game while introducing newer Alohan versions of some classic Pokémon that are affected by their environments.
Literally everyone I know who grew up with Pokémon wanted to get these as soon as they came out.

NES Classic Edition
The must-have console of the holiday is becoming one of the hardest-to-find toys of the season. The mini-version of Nintendo's original game console comes with 30 original games pre-installed ranging from Zelda and Donkey Kong to Super Mario Bros. and Pac-Man.

Hatchimals
These are the hardest-to-get toy this holiday season (other than the NES are Hatchimals), according to Ebates. We witnessed these at TTPM's holiday showcase and it was easy to see why kids would want these plastic eggs. Spin Master's eggs hatch to unveil interactive stuffed animals that grow and learn.
Kids have to spend about 20-25 minutes with the egg warming it up and rubbing it until their animal breaks its way out of the egg. The toy's site currently has a message telling consumers that they anticipate additional inventory hitting shelves this month to sell out quickly.
Dolls are reselling online for hundreds of dollars. Target is expected to get a new shipment December 11.
