Under the SMS-based service for UAN activation, the member is supposed to send an SMS to 7738299899. The member then becomes eligible for services like credit alerts and passbooks. The new service primarily is beneficial for the users having an access to either computer or smart phone.
EPFO already has in place a Short Code SMS service, which helps members get their details along with contribution and PF balance through an SMS to 7738299899.
As an extension to this service, a missed call at 011 22901406 – at no cost to the member – it will fetch all the required user details. As this facility is available only to UAN members, the activation is expected to pick up.
As per the data released by the Ministry, a total of around 1.80 crore UAN have been activated so far, 58.72 lakh UAN are seeded with Aadhaar and 1.82 crore UAN seeded with bank accounts.
