Alden Caleb Ehrenreich is now joining the "Star Wars" universe, taking on the role of a young Han Solo in the Han Solo anthology film.
He beat out more than 2,500 other actors for the part in the Han Solo spin-off during a six-month audition process.
Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller said he was "literally the first person to walk through the door" for the audition, and they knew right away.
When he was cast, his mom sent him his old "Star Wars" action figures.

When he was 14, he made a short, comedic video for his friend's bat mitzvah. Steven Spielberg happened to be in the crowd, and set up a meeting between the teen and DreamWorks.
He landed his first acting gigs on episodes of "CSI" and "Supernatural."
He went to New York University, and though he never graduated, he cofounded a theater company while there.
Called The Collectin and composed of more than 30 members, the group met once a week and performed original material around New York City. They are now based in LA, and have made two films. Ehrenreich starred in one of them: 2015's "Running Wild."

He teamed up with Francis Ford Coppola again for 2011's "Twixt."
He then had a supporting role in the psychological thriller "Stoker."
Next, Ehrenreich was cast as the lead in "Beautiful Creatures," based on the YA novel of the same name. He initially turned down the role, but was later convinced to read the script and loved it.
In 2013, he appeared in Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine" as Cate Blanchett's character's estranged stepson.

For the role, he learned trick-roping, gun-twirling, and horseback riding.
He's also starring in Warren Beatty's "Rules Don't Apply," alongside Lily Collins and Beatty himself who is playing famed aviator Howard Hughes. The film will be released November 23.
He's playing a soldier in Iraq in the upcoming film, "The Yellow Birds," alongside Jennifer Aniston and Tye Sheridan
