In January 2010, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick was just about to hire his first employee. He tweeted, "Looking 4 entrepreneurial product mgr/biz-dev killer 4 a location based service.. pre-launch, BIG equity, big peeps involved--ANY TIPS??"
Back then, Uber was still brand new. It had only launched UberCab Beta in San Francisco, its first market. And you could hail a car by using an iPhone app or via SMS.
Fast forward a few years, and Uber is now one of the hottest companies in Silicon Valley, and the most richly valued.
As of today, Uber operates in more than 300 cities, and it's a global company that's said to be worth as much as $62 billion.
