With the ever-growing popularity of AirPods these days, and the impending release of newer versions, it's important to keep yours customized to your liking: whether it be setting them up so a double tap engages Siri, or instead plays the next song or podcast episode on your device.
You can similarly customize the name of your AirPods - and changing that name is easy to do on any iOS device with the same steps demonstrated below on an iPhone.
How to change the name of your AirPods
1. First, open the Settings app on your device, then scroll down just a tad and find "Bluetooth" and tap on it.

2. Inside the Bluetooth menu, you will find all the devices connected to your iPhone. Find your AirPods and tap the 'i' in their tab to select them and open a new menu.
It is important here to make sure that Bluetooth is on and your AirPods are already paired and connected. You can connect your AirPods by placing them in your ears, or simply lifting the lid of the case.
3. Tap the third option from the top where it says "Name." This is where you will find the current name of your AirPods.

4. Here you will replace the current name of your AirPods with your preferred name. You can quickly erase the name by simply tapping the 'x' on the far right of the entry field. Then press "Done" at the bottom.
