Sadiq Khan has been elected as the new Mayor of London.

After comfortably beating his closest rival Zac Goldsmith, the Labour politician will succeed Boris Johnson as the new figurehead of the British capital.

During the race, Goldsmith made various allegations against Khan, including that the Muslim politician gives "cover to extremists." These slurs were widely condemned as false and Goldsmith's campaign was criticised for using unpleasant tactics, even by his own sister, Jemima.
