  • Neighbourly, Google’s Q&A service launches in Mumbai.
  • The app is available for Android 4.3 and higher.
  • The main focus of the app is to connect local questions with local answers.

A few people in any community know the neighbourhood better than anyone else and these are usually the best people to go to for tips and shortcuts and local recommendations. And Google has decided to tap into these very resources to answer all your questions about a place. Say hello to Neighbourly.

Neighbourly is a mobile app that allows users to create a question and answer threads pertaining to local regions. Recently launched in Mumbai, the app allows you to connect with your ‘neighbours’ in order to ask them questions using text or voice in English and eight other supported Indian languages.

The app is currently in beta and is available for phones with Android 4.3 or higher.

This app gets you instant answers to your queries and also provides you with the most up-to-date and relevant information regarding a certain area.

Currently, the company has made the app only available to Mumbai residents, but others can join the waitlist ahead of a full-scale release.

This is another one of Google’s forays into local, small community-supported services. Earlier this year in January, Bulletin, an experimental news app, was launched by Google. The app, which is still under development, provides a medium to report news quickly.
