George Santos says he hasn't been invited onto 'RuPaul's Drag Race' just yet: 'I'd love to go'

  • It's no secret former Rep. George Santos loves "RuPaul's Drag Race."
  • And yet, he said he still hasn't received an invite to appear on the show as a guest.

Former Republican Rep. George Santos said on Monday that he's yet to receive an invitation to appear as a guest on "RuPaul's Drag Race."

Santos made the comments during an interview released Monday with Ziwe, an online comedian, after she compared the former congressman to the fictional animated character, "Tinkerbell," who needed applause to survive.

Though he denied the comparison, Santos said the only thing that's stopped him from fading away from the spotlight is constant speaking invitations. He was expelled from Congress earlier in December.

When asked if he's been invited to appear on "RuPaul's Drag Race," the once-photographed drag queen said he hadn't yet.

"I haven't got that invite yet," Santos said. "I'd love to go read a bitch."

In his interview with Ziwe, Santos confirmed the validity of photos that have circulated of him dressed in drag while in Brazil, though he said it was only "for a day."

"I was 18 years old," Santos said. "Look, if I was a career drag queen then like everybody likes to claim, then I must be a myth of a drag queen now cause I wear far more makeup today than I did in that picture."

A drag queen who's appeared on "RuPaul's Drag Race," Jan Sport, previously told Business Insider she thought Santos wasn't "the ugliest duckling" she's seen.

"I think she actually doesn't look too bad," Sport said. "I think improving any aesthetic would involve not being such a hypocrite."
