While its top speed is officially listed at 62 mph, one Marine said that he once got the LAV 25 up to 76 mph on a flat surface highway.
The LAV 25 holds up to nine Marines, and is equipped with multiple hatches in the front, back and on top.
The sides of the LAV are equipped with multiple hooks and straps for transporting supplies.
It also is equipped with electronically-launched smoke grenades for cover as well as night vision for the driver and gunners.
The 25mm chain gun is operated by a two-man turret inside the vehicle, which the Marines would not allow pictures of.
The LAV 25's secondary weapon is the pintle-mounted M240E1 7.62 millimeter machine gun.
When not in use, the 25 millimeter barrel can be taken out and stored inside the vehicle.
The LAV 25's primary weapon is the M242 Bushmaster 25 millimeter chain gun cannon.
The LAV 25's light armor can withstand small arms fire, and possibly even rocket-propelled grenades, but not cannon fire, the Marines said.
