Asus may have caught us by surprise with its recently launched ZenFone smartphone series running on Zen UI but the company is not looking to rest on its laurels and thereby has announced its next big product to grace our shore. The Taiwan-based brand has introduced Chromebox in the country that runs on Google’s Chrome operating system which was first seen running on the Chromebooks.

The Chromebox is equipped with latest 4th generation Intel processors (across different variant) and comes with support for 4K or ultra high definition video playback. Chromebox is just like your typical mini-PC but instead of running on Windows/Linux or Mac OS for that matter, here you have the device powered by Chrome OS. There are apps that work on this box; you can secure data with its built-in virus protection feature that gets regular updates automatically.

There’s enough in terms of connectivity to get your juices flowing. You have Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n dual-band, four USB 3.0 ports for high speed transfer and compatible high quality streaming content. With HDMI and display port, you can connect the latest in line of TV’s and you get support for dual-display also and that’s not all, you find an SD card reader on the box too. If you plan to use the Chromebox in household then you will be equipped with different account setting for each person. Guest mode is also there and you can toggle between accounts, when needed.

In terms of raw hardware, Chromebox comes in Celeron, Core i3 and Core i7 variants that get paired with 2 GB, 4 GB and 4 GB RAM respectively with 16 GB solid state storage made available. ASUS Chromebox is available with Chrome OS supported keyboard and mouse and priced starting from Rs 21,000 and goes up to Rs 58,000, depending on the model that suits your need.
