Microsoft has announced a kickass new app for its upcoming
HoloLens augmented reality headset -
Actiongram. This one lets users add 3D animated graphics to real world environments via
HoloLens. It can then record both live and animated content using
HoloLens's mixed reality capture. That means you can pose with your Zombie pal, train your pet dragon and ride your Unicorn around your bedroom.
Microsoft is calling it a
holographic storytelling tool. Basically if you want to spice up your life with zombies, unicorns and aliens, this is your thing. There’s a pre-defined library of
3D models and
visual effects that you can position and direct. It’s nothing like Hollywood, but it’s damn cool.
The
Actiongram app was developed by a small team of five people in a mere six months. Why did they do it? Just to prove the
HoloLens can be used to create high-quality holographs, and that they did.
The app will be available in the
Windows Store as a part of the
Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition. Shipping begins on 30th March, and developers based in Canada and the USA can
apply for to buy at a whopping $3,000 (Approx Rs. 2 lakhs).
