Tesla released the Roadster, its very first electric car, in 2008. The car had a range of 244 miles and could accelerate to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.
The Roadster's base price in 2008 was $98,000, according to Car and Driver.
Tesla sold more than 2,400 Roadsters across 30 countries, the company wrote on its webpage.
Now, a Roadster prototype is up for sale on eBay for a whopping $1 million. That's a pretty big price tag, which the seller is justifying by calling the car "historic."
"A million dollar Tesla may be crazy today, but with vintage Ferrari's going for $15M+, imagine what the first Ferrari prototype models would go for," the seller wrote of the pricing choice on eBay.
"Take that 30 years into the future when most cars are electric and they'll be able to trace their history back to Tesla, the company that is changing the industry, and this being a prototype of its first model. Historic and super sporty," the seller continued.
Still, it's worth noting the very same Tesla Roadster was sold for around $65,000 four years ago.
The car is the 32nd Roadster produced as part of the Validation Prototype series. But keep in mind several prototypes were made prior to the validation series, so it's not the 32nd Roadster ever produced.
The seller included the Roadster's Vehicle Identification Number. The section marked V00032 indicates that the car is a validation prototype (hence the V) and the 32nd prototype produced.
Many Roadsters part of the Validation Prototypes series were destroyed in crash testing.
The current owner claims the car has a range of 160 miles.

The Roadster comes with a pretty funky looking gear switch nob.
And the interior seems tidy and in good condition.
Here's a closer look at the seats, which have a wider base and a more detailed trim than the first generation Tesla Roadsters, which were part of the Engineering Prototypes series.
According to the vehicle history report, the Roadster has had three different owners and is currently registered in California.
