At the turn of the 20th century, Jean-Marc Côté and other French artists illustrated a collection of postcards predicting what the year 2000 would be like in celebration of the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris.
Many of the postcards showed a world in which humans had mastered both air and underwater travel, and while many of the predictions were way off - including the underwater whale-bus and humans riding giant seahorses - many of them offered an accurate glimpse into the future.
The most accurate predictions foresaw the rise of technology over the following century and the automation of everyday chores.
