7 high-paying jobs for people who love music

If you love music, but can't sing or play an instrument for your life, don't fret: There are other lucrative career options for you out there.

We combed through the Occupational Information Network (O*NET), a US Department of Labor database that compiles detailed information on hundreds of jobs, to find positions with a median annual salary of over $50,000 that require knowledge of the theory and techniques needed to compose, produce, and perform works of music, dance, visual arts, drama, and sculpture.

Each job is assigned a "fine arts importance level" between 1 and 100.

Here are the jobs that earned a "fine arts importance" score above 40 with a median pay over $50,000 a year:

7. Sound engineering technicians

Median salary: $53,330

Fine arts importance level: 66

Sound engineering technicians operate machines and equipment to record, synchronize, mix, or reproduce music, voices, or sound effects in sporting arenas, theater productions, recording studios, or movie and video productions.

6. Poets, lyricists, and creative writers

Median salary: $60,250

Fine arts importance level: 70

Poets, lyricists, and creative writers create original written works, such as scripts, essays, prose, poetry or song lyrics, for publication or performance.

5. Agent or business manager of artists, performers, or athletes

Median salary: $62,940

Fine arts importance level: 54

Agents and business managers represent and promote artists, performers, and athletes in dealings with current or prospective employers.

4. Multimedia artists and animators

Median salary: $63,970

Fine arts importance level: 80

3. Art, drama, and music teachers, postsecondary

Median salary: $65,340
