6 Police Personnel Killed In Maoist Attack In Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: Maoists ambushed a team of security personnel in tribal Bastar region on Friday, killing seven security personnel including a sub-inspector near Kuakonda in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
Quoting preliminary reports, police said a sub-inspector Vivek Shukla was among the dead. The security personnel were part of a road opening party (ROP) when the rebels attacked them.
The incident took place in Shyamgiri hills, under Kuakonda police station limits, in Dantewada district. The Naxalites set ablaze motorcycles, belonging to the security personnel, and also looted their weapons.
Two security personnel, who were injured in the encounter, have been evacuated and are now being shifted to the hospital at Jagdalpur.
Police said encounter was still on as the forces retaliated fire.
Additional security reinforcements have been rushed to the spot to carryout search and combing operations to flush out the rebels.
