Every challenge is an opening and every job in today’s set-up poses different types of challenges that perhaps set the parameters for what we called as ‘job success.’ It is and it will be always disputed that ‘What is the best work that gives us job satisfaction?’ Ever since the dawn of postmodernism, we have all turned slave of our own perspectives, and contentment itself is a term that creates self contradictions. Again ‘to be independent’ in matters of earning, majority of the Indians are running after job careers than pursuing business. Here are six most challenging yet rewarding Indian jobs you may consider while choosing your career.Armed Forces
How proud we feel upon seeing groups of armed forces personnel moving in their uniforms! The lavish lifestyle, lodging and exquisite ways of partying comes after three years of rigorous training at the National Defence Academy (NDA). Needless to mention, the risk and dedication involved in this job anytime during one’s career is considerably higher than most other jobs in the country. But the perks, salary and above all the post-retirement benefits which includes travel concessions, medical amenities, saving instruments and re-employment opportunities are way above as compared to other government jobs.
Indian Police Service
Hurdles in maintaining law and order has increased incessantly with rise in drug trafficking, human trafficking, road accidents, thefts and smuggling, etc. The Indian Police Service (IPS) officers are primarily entrusted with the job of doing away with these, which at times seems impossible given the vast area of their jurisdiction. With the increase in various types of crimes, this job often puts up a range of challenges. However, one should not get too much wedged with these thoughts when you are thinking of appearing in the public services examinations with an aim to become an IPS officer. One may rise and occupy prime positions of CBI, IB and RAW through this job which still remains the dream of many youngsters in India.

Sophistication, huge amount of uncounted money and social status are synonymous with doctors who attain a good amount of reputation in the society. Doctors, after obtaining their degree, might attach themselves with a permanent source of income as well as practice medicine at their home clinic. But the test lies in attaining the good name and fame and this requires years of practice even after a rigorous course of five to seven years. Also, doctors, by statistics often face law suits in regard to their medical malpractices. The real fact and challenge is that people fail to understand doctors are not Gods, but if you are even 75% successful in your cases, you will definitely be treated like God by many.
Finance and Banking
The modern finance and banking sector in India remains a lucrative hub of working for job seekers. With the growth of private banks in India and the recent salary hike in public sector banks, banking is no more a less-preferred job in the country. But the time consuming and continuous working hours, accountability, stress during financial audits, mastering the arts of explaining the ongoing economics of the country and financial opportunities to prospective investors is no less than tough tests to prove oneself in this career. Apart from this, promoting rural as well as urban awareness in relation to e-banking, e-commerce and luring in customers require convincing capabilities and often results in mental strains. If one is able to keep up with these challenges, especially in private banking sector, quick promotions are inevitable. Apart from this, the job in public sector banks are inflation and recession proof, and as an additional advantage, bank employees are entitled to loans at very minimal rate of interest.
Petroleum and Mining engineering
Staring from exploration of new deposits, decoding economic viability, designing and constructing ways of mining, managing highly complex operations and huge labour force, ensuring safety during operations, processing and marketing of mined materials to implementing environmental, reclamation and rehabilitation plans, engineers or officers in these jobs experience almost all major challenges of the industrial cycle. Besides these, land acquisition for mining management personnel and off shore explorations for petroleum engineers remain one of the greatest challenges of these jobs in India. As majority of these sectors in India are government owned, one will have almost all managerial powers, handsome payment, perks and post-retirement benefits enjoyed by other government officials of the country.
