5 People Killed At A House Party Near The University Of Calgary
Although the university has not confirmed if the victims were students, the house party was reportedly to celebrate "Bermuda Shorts Day" - an end-of-semester event for Calgary students. Neighbors confirmed to the Calgary Herald that the house was rented by local students.
"The victims are reported to include four men and a woman, all in their late teens or early 20s," according to the Herald. Three people were reportedly found dead at the scene and two were transported to a hospital, where they later died.
Police apprehended a suspect who fled from the house, and are not currently searching for other possible killers. The suspect in custody is the son of a local police officer, according to the Calgary Sun.
The University of Calgary released the following statement earlier today:
The University of Calgary is mourning the loss of five young people killed early this morning in Brentwood. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed by Calgary Police Services. Once details are confirmed by Calgary Police Services, the university will provide a further statement.
