The most dreamed ones, the most talked ones, and now the most tweeted ones too, Oscars have never failed to amaze celebs and fans alike. But, nothing is a perfect square and like every other thing under the sun, Academy Awards too have had their share of “What” and “Oh No” moments.

Crash Beats Brokeback Mountain (2006) The intense, though shocking, chemistry of Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal was the talk of the town, owing to the immense success of their romantic drama Brokeback Mountain. People had their bets placed on the film to win the crowned award and were shocked when a crime drama Crash took it home.

2. The Dictator Strikes Back (2012) After seeing him playing the role so convincingly in The Dictator, one would think that Sacha Baron Cohen is really like that. And he didn’t disappoint his fans when he turned up dressed like his character at the 2012 Academy Awards with an urn that ‘supposedly’ had the ‘ashes’ of King Jong II, and spread it all over the tuxedo of Ryan Seacrest, the red carpet host.

3. Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind? (2010) When Farrah Fawcett breathed her last, her death was overshadowed by pop star Michael Jackson who died later the same day. But the agony of Fawcett’s Fans doesn’t end here. In a TV and Movie career spanning over four decades, she had won several Emmy awards and was nominated for quite a few Golden Globes, but the 2010 Oscars Memoriam missed to mention her name. Another thing to know is that Michael Jackson beat her here as well, because he was mentioned in the memoriam despite having appeared in only one movie.

4. Cher On The Top? (1986) When Cher wore what she wore at the red carpet, little did she know that her little headgear would get her a place in this list. Intended to be a response to the Academy snubbing her for her dress in Mask, this weird Bob Mackie outfit shall remain the first image to crop up in such lists for a long time, unless someone dresses weirder.

5. Hitting The Gold, Hitting On The Gold? (2003) Not everybody wins an Oscar for Best Actor, not everybody kisses Halle Barry, and only Adrien Brody does both of them, together. Getting the award for The Pianist, Brody truly seized the moment and kissed the presenter Halle Barry, literally sweeping her off her feet. Maybe the joy of being the youngest actor to win this Academy Award took over his conscience.
