Bade Miyan
It is said that Bade Miya started 75 years ago with a small stall to serve navy officers and office goers in Fort area. The owner, Mohammed Yasin who came to Mumbai at the age of 13 was gifted him Rs. 20 to setup a makeshift seekh kabab corner by his guru Hazrat Fid Mohammed Adam Chisti at an almost deserted spot near a naval port at the tip of Mumbai – Colaba, in 1946.

Started in 1970 this is the oldest vada pav centre in Mumbai. Ashok Thakur and his 4 brothers set a handcart to sell aluvadas. The chutney and the batter for the vada is prepared using 40 food items. Bollywood stars like Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Sonu Nigam and Sushmita Sen often visit the place.
