Beets are a sweet and healthy addition to your winter smoothies.

You switch up the foods you eat in the winter, so why not change what goes into your morning smoothie?

Winter produce like persimmons and beets are great seasonal accompaniments to the usual suspects like frozen bananas and berries. Not only do these fruits and veggies taste great, they're also easy to find at the regular grocery store and provide a slew of nutritional benefits.

To help you winterize your morning smoothie, we researched produce that's coming into season and created some decadent, healthy recipes to get you through the doldrums of winter. Persimmons, mint, collard greens, beets, and canned pumpkin (which is just as healthy as the fresh stuff) are the cold weather fruits and veggies we're working with today.

Keep scrolling to see how easy it is to make four delicious smoothies with these ingredients.
