Monster.com measures a 17% growth in online recruitment activity

As per the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI) for India, June 2016 saw the online recruitment activity growing 17% from last year.
Talking of specific sectors, while education saw a 65% y-o-y growth in online hiring, IT saw a significant slowdown at 40% growth.
As per a press release from Monster.com, growth in online hiring in the production and manufacturing sector was down 14% from June 2015, marking the biggest fall among all sectors that were monitored under the survey.
The banking/financial services and insurance sector saw a growth of 10%.

"Among the tier II markets monitored by MEI, Jaipur (29%), Chandigarh (39%), Coimbatore (24%) and Ahmedabad (28%) have witnessed positive y-o-y growth," he added.
He cited government's thrust on improving reach of digital technologies in such markets under the Digital India initiative to be a major driving force in the growth in e-hiring.
