150% Increase In Govt’s Request For User Data

According to a report, Google is getting more requests to reveal user data from governments across the world.

The search engine giant's transparency report states that the worldwide government requests for Google's user data have increased 150% over five years.

Richard Salgado, Google's legal director of law enforcement and information security, wrote in a blog post that government requests for user information such as registration information, emails and IP addresses increased 15% in the first half of 2014, and 150% since 2009.

So far, Google has received 31,698 government requests for user information in the first half of 2014, out of which, it complied with 65% of such requests.
